Intro and Audio Drama?
This blogging's new for me so if i seem out of place you know why. I know i should know what a blog is by now considering how long blogs have been around but i'm generally out of the loop on things. i guess what i'll type on here is just random stuff, if that makes sense. so let me begin...by giving a very brief history on audio dramas. whats that? (random voice in my head asks? don't worry i'm not that kind of crazy, if that makes sense.) oh no you said audio books that is not what i'm discussing. what is an audio drama? well to answer that we'd have to go back before pinterest, you tube, texting, the internet, cellphones and even television.( i'm sure you stop reading by now.) where the only entertainment at home was books and a device in ancient days know as a
radio
- this device didn't just play music and talk shows like the very few of you that might remember this contraption in its evolved form. nay, they had what they called back then Radio Theater. They had shows of all types from westerns to scifi and everything else.
- radio theater started in the mid late 1920's and lasted all the way till television murdered it, although not entirely. strangely enough the internet has been a help on creating new audio production sites for example
http://www.pendantaudio.com/ , http://brokensea.com/ , http://www.gypsyaudio.org/ , http://misfitsaudio.com , and http://www.bigfinish.com/
not to mention places you could find the classics like
http://www.oldradioworld.com , and http://www.otr.net
http://www.oldradioworld.com , and http://www.otr.net
theirs even tons of fan audio dramas from shows like doctor who for an example
believe me when i type that most fan audios are actually better than most fan fiction (no offense fanficers)
so if your wasting time listening to someone read a book, why not listen to a whole cast act it out for you with sound effects and an orchestra?
